What an interesting few weeks!!

Sorry ive not done a post in a few weeks, had lots and lots going on!!! But life is back to normal now and hopefully diet wise too.

Last week was a very bad week due to one thing or another and i ate badly, then at the weekend i went out in Leeds for a girlie day and didnt stick to plan at all. I ate and drank what i liked and i so needed it after the previous 2 weeks. Strangely though i had still lost 2 lbs on weigh in on Monday.

Anyway my total loss so far is now 10 lbs which i am happy with, Im hoping to have a stone off in a maximum of 3 weeks, preferably 2 but thats pushing it.

So meal wise ive tried few new things these few weeks including


  • chicken and bacon hotpot
  • fanta chicken
Had chicken and bacon hotpot tonight for the second time and it was yummy. My mum came for tea and loved it too. Had fanta chicken last week but it went too dry, i reduced it too much so going to try that again this week.

Rest of this weeks meals include

  • fanta chicken
  • BBQ chicken melt 
  • chow mein
Might use pork for the chow mein as i eat a lot of chicken and need more variety.

I am getting bad with my snacking though. Not been too bad today but other days havent been great. Got to get better!

Sorry i've not updated. Had LOTS going on!!

anyway i put a pound on this week but i did expect it as ive pigged out so much at the weekend :( Been good today and yesterday so lets hope i  can keep it up for the rest of the week. Might not have chance to update in next few days but definatly will by end of week x

What a day!!

Well day didnt start well. It would have been the 9 year anniversary of meeting my hubby so i was upset this morning. Despite that i pulled myself together and had a good breakfast. Decided on a green day today. So heres what i had

breakfast - linda mccartney sausages, beans, bacon (75g raw- HEB) 2 eggs and 2 toast (HEB+ 0.5 for spread)
lunch - supernoodles and a bag of wotsits (4.5 syns)
tea - home made pizza and a few scabby SW chips!!! it was a disaster!! (HEA - Cheese) other HEA in day was milk.

Pizzas cooked fine but as my cooker is crap for cooking 2 things at once we just did the pizza first. Used Warburtons sandwich thins (5 syns per thin which comes in 2 halves to make 2 pizza), tomato puree, cheese (HEA) and whatever filling you want. I was a bit naughty and used 2 slices of wafer thin ham that i havent syned :( I also used 'fried' onions and it was yummy.
So the disaster came with the chips. I used this new mesh tray that i had got as i had been told they were great, chips were supposed to go really crispy as its all open at the bottom and so could cook from all sides. So puts them on it, spray with frylight as usual and put in on a high temp for 25 mins. Result? totally burnt and some still hard!!! so tried again with another batch and same again! Everytime i have done this exactly the same way but with a metal tray they have been fine so im going back to that!

Then tonight i felt down again and ended up eating a small tube of mini eggs costing me 11 syns!!!!!! As soon as i ate them i was so ashamed of myself. What a waste of syns.  But it was done so couldnt change it. It did help me feel better for a few minutes but i now know i should have chosen better. Hopefully ill learn for next time.

Looking at todays diary i do need to eat more fruit and veg, I do struggle with veg so try to have my fruit but today i only had that tiny bit of onion.

So aims for tomorrow!!


  • Eat more fruit!
  • Try do some wii fit
  • Check syns before eating rubbish so hopefully it will stop me from eating them

Murial's Wedding!

Well so far today has been a good day diet wise.

So today

Breakfast - 1 alpen bar, mullerlight yoghurt, banana (3 syns)
Dinner - Ham Roll with 1 tsp of extra light mayo and upto 1 tsp of lighter than light spread, bag of wotsits  (roll HEB and 5.5 syns)
Tea - Fajita taco trays (3 syns)

For the fajita taco trays i used these crispy little trays. I had never tried them before so thought i would give them a go and at 2 syns each i didnt think they were too bad.


I was planning to have 3 but after 1 1/2 i gave up on them. Not that keen on soft food and crispy things together. Saved me 3 syns for the day! So i had the fajita spiced chicken (made with cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic granules and a little chilli powder with a sprinkle of oregano) with onions wrapped in little gem lettuce leaves. It tasted so good! I thought i would miss the wraps but i didnt at all. I added a jacket potato with it too just to fill me up. So a syn free meal (minus the taco trays that next time i will leave out!) which i will have again.

So the rest of my day included watching the 90's film Murial's wedding. This has always been a favourite of mine as i saw myself a lot like Murial. Since being a little girl, i dreamed of getting married just like her and being someone and being someones wife. I never thought i would but i did and i had a fantastic 8.5 years with my ex husband but it obviously wasnt meant to be forever. So i had a few tears tonight about that. But im ok, i have my moments at times but im getting stronger everyday.

Weigh in day!!

Well its weigh in day again. I wasn't confident about getting a loss because i was bad at the weekend. Had a subway at Meadow hall (one of the healthiest choices i thought!) and nibbled on chicken nuggets and jelly babies on Sunday night!!

So i was surprised to have a 1 lb loss today making me 13 st 8lbs Making my total loss 1/2 a stone!!


Not an official award as i don't go to class  but it there to spur me on.

So This week is a new start yet again, I have to be good!!

Meals this week will include:

  • Spaghetti bolognese - made with quorn
  • Bolognese with something like SW chips or mash
  • BBQ chicken melt
  • curry
  • Pizza and SW chips (unsure what way to make the pizza yet though)
  • Taco tray fajitas
  • chinese chicken
  • baked bean lasange
Obviously some of these will go into next week. Had the quorn spag bol tonight and it was lovely. My 5 year old daughter loves it. She messes her food a lot but she scoffed a massive bowl full!!

Heres the recipe i use, other people add mushrooms, peppers etc but im not that bothered for them so leave them out.

Serves - 4 (i make this amount and save some for the following day or i freeze it)

Ingredients


500g Extra lean mince meat or quorn mince
2 x 400g Tins of chopped tomatoes with added herbs such as basil (or i used passata)
1 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp tomato puree (forgot to add this tonight!)
Approx 5 rashes of bacon, all visible fat removed, cut up into bite size pieces
1 Onion, chopped
Garlic (i use garlic granules and add 2 tsp)
beef stock cube
fry light

Spaghetti to serve it with

Method

Fry the onion, bacon and garlic in a pan using fry light until cooked.
Add the Mince meat/quorn mince and cook through until brown
Sprinkle over the beef stock cube and stir thoroughly
Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree and oregano.
Leave to simmer for 20-30 mins
Serve with spaghetti

Bloody gorgeous it was!!

Tomorrows tea time meal is Taco tray fajitas. These are made with my own made fajita spices, to save on syns on a ready made shop bought pack, taco trays and little gem lettuce. I cant wait!!

Why I want to lose weight.....

I actually didnt answer this question at all.

One of the reasons i think my marriage broke up, was because i didnt bother with myself. Lots of reasons why but the main one was you just get comfortable as you are and your husband 'supposedly' loves you as you are, so i didnt wear make up, get new clothes often but that was also due to money.

Now i am seperated, i want to feel better in myself, My family told me to put a bit of make up on and buy myself some new things so i did. I never had the money to it before as all money went on the house, bills etc.

So i had a makeover at one of these counters in Debenhams and felt great afterwards so i bought a few things. But looking at myself i felt frumpy. It was no wonder my husband left me!! How would anyone else ever want me?? Not that i am looking for anyone anytime soon but one day maybe.

 I want to be a yummy mummy not a slummy mummy!!

Ive also got  a goal too. Me and a friend and all our kids are off on holiday in October. Going on a caravan holiday to skegness and we want to be yummy mummies for then. She too has had heartache this last year as her partner left her too. We dont like men much at the mo lol!!So we are going to show them we can be fine without them and when we look stunning, they will see what they are missing!!

Hello and welcome

Hello, if you dont know me i'm Sarah and im 29 years old. Im separated and i live on my own with my 2 daughters, Mayze who is 5 and Mia who is 1. 

So my story.........

I have always been big all my life, even from being a baby i was chunky. I went through life being bullied at school, 'Miss piggy' was one name that ive never forgot. Anyway after leaving school i did join slimming world for some time and lost a stone. After that it all stopped and i was just happy living life, went to college and university. In 2004 i met my ex husband. We had a great 8.5 years together. We tried the slimming world diet at home on various occasions and both lost weight but when we stopped the lbs returned. 
In June/July 2012 me and ex split up. It was the most horrendous time in my life. I had never felt so hurt in my life, i was cheated on just because life was the same and got boring!! We tried to make it work but it didnt work out and so i moved from Lincoln (where i moved to when i met him) back to my home village where my family still live. It still hurts but im getting used to being on my own now.

I got my own house in September 2012 and its on the same street as my family. It is actually the house i grew up in as a little girl. I rent it off the lady who bought the house off my mum about 25 years ago. 

So why do i want to lose the weight??

I started My slimming world journey on 7th January 2013 and i weighed in at 14 st 1 lbs. After having my youngest daughter i weighed in at 16st 8 lbs but bad health due to my diabetes caused that weightloss. Im glad the weight is gone but it should have been done in a better way (not that i did it on purpose). 

Heres my progress so far


07/01/13 - 14 st 1 lbs
14/01/13 - 13 st 10 lbs -3lbs
21/01/13 - 14 st 2 lbs + 4lbs total - +1lbs
28/01/13 - 13 st 9 lbs -7lbs total - -6lbs

The weekend before the 3rd weigh in was a bad one as it was my sisters birthday so i went to york for the weekend and had a weekend off plan. Its amazing how easy it is for those pounds to go back on!!

I am enjoying cooking a whole lot of new things now. Before my hubby was the cook but now ive had to learn to do it. Ive been experimenting with lots of new recipes and will share them on here as i go along.

This is basically to record my journey and to write down how im feeling. Next weigh in is tomorrow morning. I dont go to class at the moment, I just do it from home with all the books and support from a few online support groups via facebook.

So i better add a picture of myself so here you go.....



These are both from holidays in the past few years. I was a size 20/22 but only yesterday i bought some new size 18 trousers so thats one step in the right direction :)
